the granary, wellow - bath
a grade II Listed barn located outside bath, the requirement was to provide a new hydrotherapy and exercise pool annexed to the main double height barn dwelling.
the new structure was formed as a single storey l-shaped block that included a hydrotherapy pool and ‘carers flat’. the building form was sited on an east-west axis to take advantage of the stunning views across the surrounding rural countryside and benefit from the south facing sun illuminating the enclosed courtyard.
the new structure was visually linked to the main barn dwelling via the use of an external stone dividing wall, defining areas between public and private. elevational/material treatments were also arranged to appear sympathetic with the surrounding timber barn structures.
